About :
Caroline Perkins is an award-winning British painter working in figurative abstraction. Yorkshire-born and London-trained, she holds a Master of Arts in Painting from the Royal College of Art. Her practice weaves personal mythology, grief, and feminist thought into richly textured, colour-driven works that balance emotional depth with contemporary criticality.
A recipient of the QEST Scholarship and Colarts Bursary, Perkins has exhibited widely across the UK. Her work draws from fairytales, ancestral memory, and lived neurodivergence, offering an abstracted narrative of the body as both wound and archive. As an emerging voice in British contemporary painting, she is known for creating work that challenges linear storytelling, instead presenting fragmented gestures that mirror psychological and spiritual transformation.
Alongside her studio practice, Perkins is a respected art educator with over two decades of experience. She regularly contributes to symposia and panel discussions, including those at Winchester School of Art. She is a trustee of the Test Valley Arts Foundation and the lead artist and founder of Unity Art Studio, a socially engaged creative space in Hampshire supporting inclusive, sustainable practices.
Her work reflects a deep commitment to environmental responsibility, both in material choices and in the ethos of her teaching and community outreach. Through colour, gesture, and layered figuration, Perkins continues to explore how art can hold space for complexity, loss, and renewal.
